Aaron Cutler, MD, FAANS

Neurosurgeon & Brain Tumor Specialist located in Pomona, CA & Riverside, CA

About Dr. Cutler

Aaron Cutler, MD, is a highly experienced neurosurgeon and brain tumor specialist at Inland Neurosurgery Institute (INI) in Pomona, California.

Medicine, specifically the unique physiologic aspects of the nervous system, has always interested Dr. Cutler from a young age. After graduating from college at UC Berkeley, Dr. Cutler attended medical school at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. It was there that his interest in the field of neurological surgery began. In witnessing neurosurgical operations for the first time, Dr. Cutler was able to appreciate the delicate nature of the nervous system and the importance of manipulating the brain and spinal cord as little as possible during surgery in order to give it the best chance of recovery. He has always remembered the words of one of his first mentors that neurological surgery can be the most humbling profession there is, and a neurosurgeon must always be thoroughly prepared while never taking any operation for granted.

After graduating from medical school with high honors (Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society), Dr. Cutler completed his general surgery internship and neurological surgery residency at the UCLA Medical Center. He pursued further fellowship training in endoscopic and minimally invasive skull base and pituitary surgery at John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, California, and in open skull base and cerebrovascular surgery at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City.

From his extensive training, Dr. Cutler is experienced in the treatment of brain, skull base, pituitary, and spinal cord tumors, cerebrovascular disorders including aneurysms, cranial and spinal trauma, stroke, pain disorders, and simple and complex spine problems. Dr. Cutler utilizes the latest intraoperative navigation technology and surgical techniques in his practice, including endoscopic transsphenoidal surgery for most sellar and suprasellar lesions and minimally invasive keyhole approaches to the brain and skull base. Dr. Cutler has also conducted research and been published extensively on brain tumors, spinal disorders, and lesions of the pituitary gland.

Dr. Cutler understands that surgery does not always represent the best treatment option and makes sure to explore all therapeutic alternatives, including the risks and benefits of each, with every patient he evaluates. He also takes a conservative approach to surgery, taking care to explain in detail the goals of the operation and the steps that will be taken to minimize the risk of postoperative complications.

In his free time, Dr. Cutler enjoys spending time with his wife, Veronica, and his sons, as well as playing golf and basketball, and rooting for his California Golden Bears.
